Welcome to our office. Salveo Family Medicine Clinic provides comprehensive office health care for your entire family.
Appointments
We feel that you, our patient, should be seen in a timely manner, and not have to wait weeks to get an appointment. When you phone for an appointment at Salveo, it is our goal to get an appointment for you in a timely manner.
By reducing delays we hope to minimize your need to visit walk-in clinics. This helps us to know what ALL your health concerns are, and helps you by having one family physician who knows your entire health history.
With this type of appointment booking, we try to respect your time and we need you to respect your physician’s time. The appointment time you are given is the time your doctor will see you. That means you need to arrive 10 minutes EARLY to be checked in and see the nurse BEFORE your appointment time. Please be aware that if you arrive late your physician may or may not be able to see you and you may need to book another appointment. In this way, we hope to minimize the amount of time you spend in the waiting room. This is also why it is important that you limit your concerns to one issue per visit. We apologize for those occasions that the physician is behind schedule – we hope to keep these to an absolute minimum.
We also hope that by booking this way we can avoid “no shows” to appointments. This may occur from time to time, and so we still maintain a “no show” policy where you will be required to pay for your missed appointments before being seen again. If you must cancel an appointment and wish to avoid being invoiced for a missed appointment, please inform us of the cancellation at least 24 hours prior to scheduled appointment time, so that the appointment can be offered to others.
Prescription Refills
Requirements for Telephone Prescription Renewal
The cost of all prescription refills done by phone or fax is $50, if and only if:
Office Policies
Abuse of Staff
Abuse of staff either over the phone, in writing, by email, or in person will not be tolerated and will be grounds for immediate termination.
Designated Physician
Once a patient has been accepted into one of the Physician’s Practices, that patient will not be able, at any point, to transfer to another physician within the clinic. When appointments/visits are required that patient will be placed with his/her physician or his/her designate unless either are not available. If you are a personal friend of one of the physicians, it is the policy of the clinic that your designated physician be one of the other physicians in the clinic.
Uninsured Services
The Alberta Health care Insurance Plan pays for many of the services patients receive from their doctor. However, a number of services are not covered by the government plan. These are uninsured services. Some are billed to lawyers, government agencies or others. Some are billed to the patient.
Examples of uninsured services include: Telephone Prescription Refills, Advice by phone, Transfer of records, Private letters/forms (eg. Sick Notes), Insurance forms (eg. Disability), Blue Cross Special Authorization Forms, Third Party Letters/examination, Pregnancy Leave and Employment Insurance forms, Certification of fitness, Disabled Parking Authorization, Driver’s Medical, Certain Uninsured Procedures, Missed Appointment Fee, & Costs of Uninsured Supplies.
In general, the service requested will not be provided until payment is received in full, whether that is cash, cheque, debit or credit card. Inquiries can be directed to our receptionist.
